How is it powered?
By solar energy that gets collected during daylight hours and stored in a rechargeable battery.
How & when does it turn on?
The product turns on automatically when it gets dark outside, with the solar panel and circuitry acting as a light sensor. There are no timers, door switches, or motion sensors to maintain absolute simplicity.
How long will it last?
The product is designed to accommodate thousands of full charge/discharge cycles, allowing it to function perfectly for a minimum of 5 years before the rechargeable battery needs to be replaced.
Does it work year round?
Yes, the product will illuminate the inside of the mailbox year round, regardless of the weather with three caveats: (1) if snow accumulates on top of the product it must be cleared off to maximize solar power collection, and (2) during the winter months when daylight hours are shorter, as well as during periods of multiple sequential cloudy or rainy days with minimal sunlight the duration of internal illumination during the night will be shortened such that it may not last throughout the night until the following morning.
How many hours during the night does it illuminate the inside of the mailbox?
The product is designed to provide constant illumination throughout the night time hours, regardless of the season or time of year.
Is it weatherproof?
Yes, the product is resistant to moisture and water intrusion.
What is the temperature operating range?
Due to the current characteristics of rechargeable battery technology, this product will operate best between the temperature ranges of 32 °F to 113 °F.
It should be expected that below 32 °F or above 113 °F it may not charge optimally. Likewise, below –4 °F and above 122 °F it may not illuminate optimally.
Will it blind when opening?
No. The light from the product is directed downwards and emits a brightness level that is just enough to adequately illuminate the interior of the mailbox.
Can I buy replacement parts or batteries easily?
Although the rechargeable battery within the product will continue to perform optimally for many years, if at some point it needs to be replaced the task is easy and rechargeable batteries are commonly found in stores and online.
Will it obstruct mail?
No. The product is specifically designed to provide no hindrances to mail.
Does it have magnets that will harm credit cards?
No, the product does not include any components that would potentially damage credit cards.
Is maintenance required?
No maintenance is required.
Warranty/Return policy
Manufacturer warrants this product to be free for one (1) year against any defects that are due to faulty materials or workmanship. The manufacturer shall promptly correct such defects by repair or replacement, at its option. This warranty covers only product defects and shall expire one year after the date of purchase by the original purchaser. Proof of Purchase (Sales Receipt) is required.
